You can spend time arguing over the difference between shutting down FEMA & rebranding it but the reality is that the Trump admin has already dismantled FEMA to the point that it could not efficiently respond to a relatively small disaster in a state with a relatively large capacity EM system.

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.

This is such a critical point that can be tough to make without seeming to minimize the current disaster. This event had a very high death toll for a U.S. disaster and the impacts are severe but in terms of total number of people directly affected and the geographic scope, it’s on the smaller size.
As horrible as the Guadeloupe River flash flood was, it was an isolated small scale event.
FEMA couldn’t even handle that.
Imagine the call volume that’ll be generated (and not answered) when a major hurricane hits a populated area, possibly just weeks from now.

I do not know how disaster survivors will ever make it through recovery in this administration — many couldn’t do it when there were people who cared in power— it’s infinitely worse now.

The ICE camps are concentration camps. They should be called concentration camps.
It is, of course, important to distinguish between concentration camps and death camps, but also, I am not sure we will know when or if we undergo the transition from concentration camps into death camps.

the thing we should find abhorrent and vile is not that "innocent people" are being sent to concentration camps. This happens all the time; look at how many innocent people are in prison. The abhorrent thing, the vile thing, what we should all be clamoring to burn down, are the camps themselves.
