valve and steam are probably the greatest success story in all of gaming but their incredibly opaque nature and breadth of control are a sword of damocles hanging over devs. Every developer bar nintendo wants their game on steam, and steam's rules are on a whiteboard at Valve's HQ and nowhere else.

If you consider random NPC dialogue "boring and unimportant" and you're okay with relegating that to gen AI, frankly I can't trust that the rest of your narrative is any good either.

When you exit System Shock you get a message about not forgetting to "salt the fries". This comes from McDonald's logistics boxes that the dev team got their orders delivered in. It is printed because the game crashes when you exit, which they couldn't fix, so they edited the crash message instead.

Today I am learning that ppl think the symbol associated with Dedede is a peace sign. did the locs ever claim this? seems obvious it's a rabbit, because Kirby is Of The Stars, and in Japanese culture bunnies are pounding mochi on the moon, and Dedede wields a hammer, and kirby is squishy like mochi
