I think queerness is a very personal experience and it's different for everyone but I would be very careful about conflating your personal experience and taste as the "correct" one. I've seen a lot of gender essentialist and homophobic based harrassment towards queer people irl online for depicting-

The big flex you can have as an artist is to just bust out a sketch in person, on the spot. No references or aid, only the stuff you have in your head + muscle memory. In my ex, folks are most impressed by the speed + confidence in which you know your shit. Impossible to farm that aura with AI.

I was talking with @wendyxu.bsky.social about the 1981 animated short "The Nine-Colored Deer," a loose retelling of the Deer King Jataka inspired by paintings in sixth-century caves at Dunhuang. It's a delight and everyone should have a look. The source material comes mainly from three caves:

watching the live action sabrina the teenage witch for the first time in 3 (?!) decades, and the set/wardrobe designs are SO much fun. 🥹 i forgot how cozy and whimsical sabrina's house was. and between this show and sailor moon, i'm remembering maybe i didn't hate all of 90s fashion after all!
