owning a cat is weird. I'm part parent and part child. I make her meals and she makes me go to bed when she decides it's my bedtime

What are severely chronically ill people supposed to do with all this restlessness that comes from WANTING to do so many things, but not having the physical or mental energy to do them? It makes me want to scream.

the amount of puritanical "you're just lazy" internalized bullshit I had to overcome to realize that peak performance really does require a certain amount of just kinda doing nothing at all

Notepad should not know what the internet is. If you have notepad talking to remote servers you're already like 10 steps into a "factors leading to" slide.

What the heck are they doing over there
The AI features added to Notepad created a critical exploit vulnerable to loading a compromised txt file.

The fix is part of Patch Tuesday, so update your systems.

AI is not a feature I ever desired in Notepad. I should look into some alternatives...
AI-upgraded Notepad now exposes Windows users to critical exploit

Programming is not a real job because programmers don't get to wear special hats while programming.

They know this, that's why programmers made up imaginary hats to they pretend to wear. They don't even describe these hats other than color, such is their shame at their hatlessness.

we deal with this shit all the time in the POTS community. even when the information is sort of right, the framing is off in unhelpful ways. you are much better off relying on nerds like me who read and understand the research.

While I appreciate the drive that athletes have to perform despite injuries and ill health, I always feel a bit strange about how we glorify continuing on when your body needs healing. I wonder how many permanent disabilities are the result of our insistence that pain is a weakness not a warning.

that's how too many of y'all sound.

critically think or this gets worse.
protect each other or this gets worse.
choose to adapt now or we lose more chances to do so.

The audiobook is incredible btw
Damn, did not expect the Dungeon Crawler Carl books to have a extremely thoughtful discussion on the need to find small moment of joy for yourself to keep you motivated to fight while facing cultural and physical genocide from exploitative capitalist systems of power, but there you go.

These books are wildly politically relevant right now and deeply anarchist in their ethos, and yet also weird nerdy fun… it shocks me how good they are. Also all the hyper specific dungeon rules that Carl learns to exploit the exact wording of make my autistic brain very happy.

in order to frame generative AI as a tool of liberation, you must entirely ignore the larger context of billionaires burning through obscene amounts of capital in order to fund the technology that operates at a massive loss. people like them don’t spend money like that to liberate people like us
i am disabled and have been poor all my life. AI isn’t a tool of liberation for people like us. it’s yet another way for the wealthy to extract value
