A truly great thread.
Long ago on the hell site I made long list of historically interesting things to use in dnd ttrpgs and I'll start dragging them over here starting with

2000 years-old sapphire ring presumably belonged to Roman emperor Caligula, depicting his fourth wife Caesonia.

Just thinking about the part in the silly YA fantasy series THE HUNGER GAMES when it turned out the president was part of an elite sex-trafficking ring of often underage survivors and the other powerful people from the Capitol all knew about it. Fantasy!! What an imaginative genre!

An interesting tidbit in the joint status report filed in the Broadview ICE facility case today:

ICE says video from inside the facility "between October 19, 2025, and October 31, 2025, has been irretrievably destroyed" and can't be produced in discovery.

Prohibited activities include advising Chinese graduate students. For reference, a recent Georgetown report estimated 16% of STEM graduate students in the US are Chinese nationals.

This would take out entire fields at the knees, which is perhaps the point.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

No one brings this up enough:

-Acosta gives Epstein a sweetheart deal
-Becomes Secretary of Labor
-In that capacity tries to gut anti-human trafficking funding

It's like a poorly written paperback legal thriller
The Secretary of Labor Wants to Cut Funding for an Agency That Combats Human Trafficking
Acosta, who is currently under scrutiny for his 2008 plea deal for Jeffrey Epstein, has proposed an 80 percent cut to the Bureau of International Labor Affairs' budget.

Gotta be honest, it absolutely sucks watching the same people who call me a groomer just for being trans say that Epstein did nothing wrong because his victims were teenagers.

PEOPLE WOULD RATHER THEIR KIDS BE RAPED THAN BE TRANS.

And it is INFURIATING.

Doing a revision tonight, and I'm cutting as much as I can in early chapters for pacing, which is the hardest revision for me. I'm hoping to cut 1K words from the early chapters. *fingers crossed* I've had to do this with the 1st book in other series too. I lore dump in 1st books. *sighs*

Anthem BC/BS came back, 10 months later, and decided that it was going to deny me and my son's rabies treatments, after already approving the claim last December.

Denying a claim where if treatment were not given, results in death 100% of the time!

Great thread 🧵 consolidating a lot of what is going on with the "family values" party.

I really hope we are entering the "finding out" era. I'm so tired of its predecessor.
I can't even fathom what January will look like, except probably very bad for the Trump regime.

Absent a major black swan event, I don't see a path to power consolidation for them at this point.

For a number of reasons, not just Epstein.

(Thread)
The timetable evidently has been accelerated.

What's your new predication for when we get to January?

I'll just throw a random one out there: They do release the Epstein files but only after Trump had time to preemptively pardon himself and he tells his base he had to cause it was a Dem smear job.
