Such a killer shelf! Incidentally, I picked up my copy of The Big Fix novel in a shop in Bainbridge during a Seattle visit.

If only I could get one to Seattle. Would love to own my own little video kiosk.
If you have the space, means and collection: a northern Texas warehouse full of proto-Redbox VHS vending machines from the mid-1980s is being evicted. The machines are free and whatever isn't taken will imminently be scrapped.

Still chuckling about @zanesimon.bsky.social and Phil being unaware of JOIs as @kingtypo.bsky.social explains it to them.

Literally everyone in Seattle needs to see this though.
There's an outside chance that the seahawks play the patriots in the superbowl and I really don't want to watch seattle steamroll new england.

My video store membership now allows me to rent 2 for 1 on Sundays, which means after years of going to the video store every Wednesday, that is no longer my thing. Kinda fucking up my whole identity.

my sort of underbaked take is i liked the dilbert comic strip as a kid because its depiction of a banal and arbitrary work environment where nonsensical top-down policies dictated my life resonated much more with my experience of school than my life later in the work force
rather than talk about Scott Adams I want to talk about something weirder (me). Who else was really into Dilbert when you were 12. Who else was like, boy, I can't wait to work a cubicle job

Honestly one of my favorite things about the Depressed Us is when @zanesimon.bsky.social, @kingtypo.bsky.social and Phil just talk about MMA at large when ignoring the bad fight they've asked to watch alomg with.

not a comment on Stranger Things in particular but this idea of feeling nostalgic not for an imagined past, but a nostalgic longing *for a time you could feel nostalgia for an imagined past* is a surprisingly apt summary of Gen X and millennial fascist aesthetics and messaging
Review: The “Stranger Things” series finale leveraged our nostalgia, not just for the ’80s, but for every one of the nine years we’ve been watching.
Review | Love triumphs over lore in the teary ‘Stranger Things’ finale
The hit Netflix show ended its nine-year run with a long, emotional, very ’80s epilogue.
