It’s 1:10 PM on a Sunday. I wish I was watching the Mariners play instead of calling Patty Murray at (202) 224-2621 and Maria Cantwell at (202) 224-3441 to tell them not to make any concessions on healthcare in order to open the government again.

idea for urbanist grassroots group or small business:

mobile street party setup. like a food truck or sauna truck that enables your closed street to become a party or third space. could range from repurposed bus w cozy interior, to squad of cargo bikes carrying rain protection & heat supply

I ran into a friend I haven't seen in a while in a crosswalk in a rainstorm in capitol hill tonight and I wish my nervous system would remember the dopamine I get when I manage to leave the house!! !

Everyone who volunteered for Wilson, thank you for everything, and we need you one last time.

Be ready to cure ballots. This is gonna be close, and we need your energy for this last push.

Be looking out for instructions from the campaign.

@publicola.bsky.social and @theurbanist.org.web.brid.gy are straight up more informative for Seattle politics and I'm happy to be a monthly supporter of both! If you only read @seattletimes.com you'd likely be confused about what is at stake in this election
Of COURSE the Seattle Times guy who thinks online news isn't real news is railing against news vouchers, which he says consist of Katie Wilson "taking $10 million from taxpayers" to fund people he looks down on—independent news producers who now all have to compete with each other for supporters.
News vouchers resurface in Seattle mayoral race
News vouchers may sounds promising, especially in the words of Seattle mayoral candidate Katie Wilson, but they are deeply problematic.

And not only should you vote yourself, you should tell all of your friends to vote too!
This isn't a federal election where our votes hardly matter.

This is a LOCAL election. These are decided by just hundreds of votes! You individually make a huge difference. Vote by the end of this week!

200+ bike and scooter corrals will be installed across Seattle to make it clearer and easier to find a place to park shared bikes and scooters.

These, created by local artist Roy (Eroyn) Franklin, were installed in partnership with Seattle Symphony, Benaroya Hall, and the Office of Arts & Culture.

Just got out of a community council meeting in Georgetown where I was expecting the issue of a potential lane reduction on E Marginal Way to dominate.

Instead, there were more questions about getting MORE bike infrastructure, pedestrian crossings, and sidewalk upgrades.

For the first time in more than 100 years, Chinook salmon have been spotted at the confluence of the Sprague and Williamson rivers in Chiloquin, the government seat of the Klamath Tribes in Southern Oregon.

Salmon clear last Klamath dams, reaching Williamson and Sprague rivers
Just a year after four dams were removed, a group of fall Chinook have migrated nearly 300 miles into the Upper Klamath Basin.

FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS VOTE EXCLUSIVELY THE STRANGER BALLOT.

Vote for Clark over Smith for School Board. Clark has stuck her neck out over and over again publicly in a way that has over and over changed SPS policy. She knows the issues, has an excellent head start, and is a former SPS student.

I'm still sitting here waiting for the city to tell us if we're allowed to build our accessible DADU or not. this home would have been completed last year if it weren't for city bullshit.
Because Seattle's permitting department is funded by permit fees, we're set to increase those fees by 18% on top of inflation next year because of the fact that...permits are down. I'm sure that will help!

Waiting for a late 8 to get to a #WeekWithoutDriving access ride along and it's wheelchair section is full. Unreliable buses mean more people waiting for a single bus and more likely that the only 2 seats i can use will be full.

I want to make stupid meme-y urbanist shirts/merch

tell me your ideas for a stupid urbanist shirt you would LOVE to have 👀

I am likely to make some small-batch with cut retroreflective vinyl, so text and simple graphics in one color are best for those
