Living in the US in 2025: The government that hates green tech says your e-bike battery might explode if it gets wet, but the company says, nuh uh, only if it gets REALLY wet. And now you, a person who needs their e-bike and also doesn't want their house to burn down, has to figure out what to do.

"Nobody’s going to sit and have a coffee in a parking lot.”

Fascinating look at conservative cities in France. City leaders believe the "quality of public space" is what drives economic development. Generally that means fewer cars.

Politically conservative Côte d’Azur cities like Cannes and Nice have embraced pedestrianization, car bans and bike lanes. That’s a departure from global norms.

Last night, I graduated from the Kirkland Initiative, an 8 wk program designed to cultivate future city leaders by making leadership accessible to residents.

I had the opportunity to meet all the City department heads and learn about how their departments function in tandem with the council.

We've gotten a lot of questions about what cities we support, and whether we can add new ones.

Takeaways from Our Candidate Forum and Progressive Victories in Bellevue Elections
With vote counting wrapping up in King County, we would like to congratulate all the winning candidates on their hard-fought races! Long-time incumbents Councilmember Jared Nieuwenhuis and Mayor Lynne Robinson each secured enough votes to serve their third and fourth terms, respectively. Appointed Councilmembers Claire Sumadiwirya and Vishal Bhargava went in front of the voters for the first time, and each earned a victory that will carry them through the end of their term in 2027.

hey Issaquah...! 👀
Thanks Ryan! We're now close to an Urbanist-endorsed majority on Issaquah City Council, with myself, Lindsey Walsh, and Kevin Nichols. We have a city council vacancy appointment coming up that could help cement that - would you be willing to spread the word once the application is live?

Amazing post from an Issaquah councilmember who is winning her race for a full four year term with 77.8% of the vote.
A while back, I went down a rabbit hole in our land use code's requirements on "Design and Architectural Standards." It was so absurd that I had to write this article as a coping mechanism. I also dug into the history of where these standards came from (tl;dr: it was a reaction to this BRIGHT BLUE)

The board is getting its temperature taken on a "hybrid approach" of bollards and vehicle barricades.
