Washingtonians, we have two new bills that could bring universal healthcare closer for you!

Both bills will be heard in committee between 8-10 am on Thursday, 1/29. This hearing is a crucial step in moving the bills forward and public input will help shape the legislation.👇

NEW: A bill to be introduced in Oregon legislature would allow the state to not pay money owed to the feds if the US government holds back funds in "contravention of a valid court order." Bill protects state employees from civil penalties but also excludes "payroll taxes" from what can be held back.

Rep Jamie Pedersen re SB 6218 withholding payment to feds: My heart is certainly in favor of SB 6218. However, the Governor has let us know that because the members of his administration who approve withholding payments to the federal government would face criminal penalties, he would veto the bill.
