It’s really remarkable how thin the bench of climate change deniers is and how deep the poverty of their arguments. They haven’t come up with anything new in decades and can only fall back on conspiracies to explain their lack of success.
Joe Rogan has one of the world's most popular podcasts. Unfortunately, like nearly all of the most popular online shows, his tends to spread climate misinformation. For @climateconnections.bsky.social I scrutinize his recent episode with octogenarian climate contrarians Lindzen & Happer 🧵 (1/11)

Thank you to the These Sacred Hills team for hosting a screening of their film. A crucial intervention that questions why Indigenous communities like the Kamiltpa Rock Creek band are being asked to sacrifice their irreplaceable cultural resources for the profits of green capitalism and AI empires.

Washington residents who have not yet voted: Our Secretary of State and local election officials recommend returning your ballot to an official county drop box or in person at a voting center, rather than mailing in your ballot. Recent USPS changes could delay postmarking.

Election Day is here and you still have time to cast your ballot! 😁😁 Eligible voters have until 8PM to register to vote or update their information in person (and vote) at a voting center or county elections department office📝

Confirm or update your voter registration info ASAP at VoteWA.Gov! 😎😎

After Hurricane Beryl devastated Jamaica’s grid last year, officials at the island’s sole utility vowed to fortify it. But the company’s initiatives were only in the planning + early implementation stages when Hurricane Melissa hit.

Sarcasm aside, it's perhaps worth pointing out that the evidence suggests that weather disasters reduce economic growth for decades - the idea that there's rapid bounceback, or even extra growth stimulated by recovery, has proved wrong

We all get poorer every time a climate disaster strikes
Long-term economic effects of global warming could be far greater than thought, making many countries poorer and hurting even those of us spared direct impacts

Climate change DEFINITELY affects hurricane:

STRENGTH: Warmer water is hurricane food

RAINFALL: Warm air holds more water vapor

SURGE: Warmer water expands, warmer ice melts, sea levels rise

PREDICTION: hotter seas mean faster intensification

It’s a BIG DEAL to celebrate 10 years of frontline organizing, especially when those in power are trying to stop us. Last week, @frontandcentered.org turned TEN(!) and our teammates traveled up to WA to celebrate and be in community with them. We’re forever grateful for you and inspired by you, F&C!
