"But it's not only the letting go — there's also the rejoicing of how we can break the system that created the trauma and the division between us and the original caretakers of the land."

I have not changed my mind about this.
I feel at this point that we need the self-driving car in the same way that we need the self-shitting bed.

A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run in my neighborhood today by someone in a black SUV flying down St. Anthony Avenue near the Aldine pedestrian bridge.

Neighbors have been pleading with the city for *years* to do something about people speeding and blowing stop signs on St Anthony.

Rightfully proud of myself for packing a lunch today, only to get to work & find I'd completely forgotten about salad dressing. 🤦🏼

I don't normally listen to music on my walks, but city hiking is very different than I'm used to. This album continues to be the perfect soundtrack to almost everything.

It will never not be funny to me that an important writer like Joyce Carol Oates who writes captial S Serious Literature is also really good at posting. It's like if Stravinsky had lived long enough to be really good at Animal Crossing too.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

The Minnesota Board of Investment has divested 96% of its Israel bonds. Honestly, what this represents is the dedication of the BDS movement and the understanding that if you hyperfocus on one thing you can get shit done.
Divestment activists claim win as Minnesota board sheds most Israel bonds
Minnesota’s State Board of Investment has sold nearly all its Israel bonds, a move Boycott, Divest and Sanction activists call a major victory after years of pushing for divestment.

if you ever randomly get the urge to donate to the democratic party, feel free to venmo that money to me or another trans person instead - we'll make sure it doesn't get used to take away people's healthcare

Had a moment waiting for the bus tonight - Lyndale is all lit up for the holidays and I felt like that scene where the Grinch's heart grows three sizes.

To be clear - I still don't fuck with christmas. But the lights are real pretty.

Once again, I am thinking about the Morris Day-narrated documentary about '80s WWF wrestler Koko B. Ware that sits in Prince's vault, unreleased and taunting us all.
99 items found in Prince's secret vault
A fascinating array of previously unknown recordings and projects have been discovered.

When you fold with no concessions less than a week after voters delivered blowout victories for your party, what conclusion do you expect us to draw?
Let me get this right… a sufficient number Senate Democrats appear to be willing to reopen government to alleviate air travel for upper & upper-middle income people at the expense of access to healthcare for lower income people. Yes?

Decent people are finding creative ways to fight the power.
Tonight was the inaugural ride of our new home buyout program. We connect with vendors too scared to be out, and we purchase from them at home. Tonight we bought 250 tamales, divided into 3 teams to deliver all over the city to folks on the street, Love Fridges, and a youth shelter.
