Newsom vetoes both the PreP access and the HRT stockpile bill because he is worried it would increase healthcare costs...
He claims to support the aims of these bills. But the vetoes deny access to medical care for queer people.

i miss when it wasn't and assumption and expectation for everyone and their dog to have opinions about Trans People. we're not interesting like that actually, we just wanna hang out.

trans people were largely either unknown or treated as scientific curiosities and interesting stories until the cultural moment of visibility in the early-mid 2010s and the subsequent backlash
I was listening to an old Casey Kasem American Top 40 (I find this soothing these days) from 1985 where he told the story of Wendy Carlos, who scored The Shining and Tron, and her journey to becoming trans. Casey got all the pronouns right and it was presented as a slice of life, feel good story
