On January 21, 2026, Yves Guillemot announced the end of remote work, closure of several studios, cancellation of projects, and a new 200€ million “cost-cutting” plan. We were informed of this at the same time as the press — as none of these changes had been discussed during the mandatory consultations with the works councils a few days earlier! On January 26, 2026, management announced the implementation of a voluntary departure plan that will affect 200 people at Ubisoft’s headquarters. We are promised autonomy for « Creative Houses », but what about autonomy for employees? We have been negotiating for over a year on remote work policy, sometimes under difficult conditions. An agreement has been in place since September in some studios. Trampled underfoot! We are told about responsibilities, but those who wield this word so easily do not take any responsibility for the consequences of their catastrophic management. We are not fooled: rather than taking financial responsibility for layoffs, they prefer to push us out by making our working conditions unbearable. It’s outrageous. It is because we love Ubisoft that this situation revolts us. Ubisoft’s unions are calling for a massive international strike by all Ubisoft employees on the 10th, 11th and 12th of February 2026. NO to their anti-remote-work obsession to “cost-cutting” plans on employees’ backs to top-down decisions to coercive control on our working conditions YES to our leaders truly taking their responsibilities to management’s duty of sincerity in the face of its failings It is time for our management to understand that they cannot do whatever they want, whether with public money or the work of hundreds of people! Without us, Ubisoft would never have conquered and transformed video games as it has. WE ARE UBISOFT.

I know it's a vanishingly small minority of people, but I think it's funny that pushing voter ID laws is a major inconvenience for sovereign citizen types who probably vote regardless of their vocal stance, and would lose the right to do that if they were required to register anything with the state

i will absolutely delete my discord account rather than give them personal info to verify age. that company has had so many hacks. they've /already/ had a hack which revealed scanned photo IDs.

@Nick_Davidov Asked Claude Cowork organize my wife's desktop, it stated doing it, asked for a permission to delete temp office files, I granted it, and then it goes "ooops" Turns out it tried renaming and accidentally deleted a folder with all of the photos my wife made on her camera for the last 15 years. All photos of kids, their illustrations, friends' weddings, travel, everything. It's not in trash, it was done via terminal It's not in iCloud, it already synced the new file structure. She didn't have Time Machine. Disc recovery tools can't see anything. I called Apple and they pointed me to a feature in iCloud allowing to retrieve files that were saved before but are no longer on iCloud Drive (they keep them for 30 days). I'm now watching it load tens of thousands of files. I nearly had a heart attack. The thing I want to see on Gastronauts is for the chefs to have a seat while the hosts are eating. I would also love to see the chefs eat too. Every cooking show does this thing where the chefs stand while they're being judged, but Dropout could do it differently and I want a friendlier vibe.
