we were fortunate to catch another shoebill fan event! Much bigger than last year -- table after table of shoebill merch by at least 15 local indie artists. It was so hard to decide what to get. Bought some shirts and a cute sculpt

it's chaos in Kabukicho, but I love the vibes
The famous bright red gate of Kabukicho, the red light district in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It's nighttime but everything is lit up by large screens and signs. The streets are bustling with locals and tourists The Kabukicho parking lot, which is surrounded by many billboards advertising host clubs and hostess clubs (places where customers spend lots of money to chat and drink with the attractive employees) A web of telephone wires hang above a narrow pathway in Golden Gai, the heart of Kabukicho. These streets are lined with tiny bars often big enough to seat only 4-8 people Bob standing in a very narrow alley in Golden Gai. He's backlit by a lamp behind him and he's casting a long shallow on the ground. The walls are covered in stickers and graffiti.

I'd never heard of blackthroat seaperch ("nodoguro") before coming to Kanazawa; it's their specialty. Small red fish that's like a fatty tuna. Super good and rich in flavour!! We had it many different ways

caught Kamen Rider ZETZ on TV (the 36th kamen rider). This one's themed around sleep, with catchphrases like "GOOD MORNING" and "RECOVERY" and I have to wonder how tired the creators were when they came up with this one

The origin of this custom lies in the annual "46,000 Days Festival" held during the summer at the Temple of Kannon (Kannon-in) in Higashiyama, Kanazawa. Worshipers who visit the temple on this day are said to receive 46,000 days' portion of heavenly rewards from the Goddess Kannon. Visitors buy ears of corn that have been blessed with a prayer, and hang them on the eaves of their houses to cast out evil and attract good fortune.
