Anthropic signs a multibillion-dollar cloud deal with Google, gaining access to 1M TPUs.

Google invests in Anthropic, who then turns around and spends massively on Google services, reminiscent of the OpenAI & Nvidia deals.

Feels like dotcom era déjà vu. Hope it ends better this time.

If the cost of freedom is a few dead commuters then that's what we pay. The dead of U.S. Route 5 can be proudly honored in the same breath as those of the Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima and Khe Sanh.

The misrule of the United States is at this point almost magical.

Last night, on the corner of Alewife Brook Parkway and Powderhouse Boulevard, my older daughter was struck by a driver.

She was crossing in the crosswalk – with the WALK signal – and the car ran the red light. Miraculously, she was okay and walked away with nothing worse than a bruise.

"It's the weirdest job market in my 15 years in tech" -- from a Big Tech recruiter. But why is the job market so weird?

Talking to 30+ hiring managers and recruiters, it doesn't seem like AI. It seems more like.. interest rates.

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

I was shocked to hear Ezra Klein praise Charlie Kirk.

"You don’t have to panic. You don’t have to burn all the bridges and retreat. You can make a principled stand for what you believe while welcoming [setbacks or misfortune]"

I listened to the whole exchange between Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ezra Klein, and to the original "Charlie Kirk Was Practicing Politics the Right Way" column, and among the takes this piece is the best I have read. Long-ish, so set aside a bit of time. (Disclosure: I have been on Ezra's show...)
I really appreciated this thoughtful piece about Ta-Nehisi Coates & Ezra Klein. Andrea Pitzer says “lost” folks like Klein “don’t have a clear idea how this moment fits into history and what it is exactly that they’re doing”. [degenerateart.beehiiv.com]

Look, I love all our local political reporters ... honestly anybody who comes across the river is good by me.

But also I think maybe that more reporters covered our cat mayor election than our real one, and that's maybe an issue, right?

Right?
