Imagine organizing your whole life around a movie whose central point you missed.
Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino "also revered Starship Troopers, Robert Heinlein's 1959 military sci-fi classic about an interstellar war between humans and alien bugs - a book his sister says he still reads to this day."
An endless amount of deranged details in this interview with Greg Bovino's sister, but most notably that his uncle produced the Jack Nicholson movie The Border and the depiction of the agent as corrupt radicalized him as a 12-yr-old.

"Since then, he was like, 'Dude, I want to do Border Patrol.'"

Michael Burry, known for his $1B bets against Palantir & Nvidia, is reportedly closing his hedge fund. He claims market fundamentals are divorced from stock prices, blaming the AI bubble.

I guess he's admitting the market can stay irrational longer than he can stay solvent.

Never mind theology. In these hard times of algorithms, AI, franchises and merch, I would dutifully take scripts notes from His Holiness. In fact, I want him to run a studio.

Anthropic signs a multibillion-dollar cloud deal with Google, gaining access to 1M TPUs.

Google invests in Anthropic, who then turns around and spends massively on Google services, reminiscent of the OpenAI & Nvidia deals.

Feels like dotcom era déjà vu. Hope it ends better this time.

If the cost of freedom is a few dead commuters then that's what we pay. The dead of U.S. Route 5 can be proudly honored in the same breath as those of the Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima and Khe Sanh.

The misrule of the United States is at this point almost magical.

Last night, on the corner of Alewife Brook Parkway and Powderhouse Boulevard, my older daughter was struck by a driver.

She was crossing in the crosswalk – with the WALK signal – and the car ran the red light. Miraculously, she was okay and walked away with nothing worse than a bruise.

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…
