A beautiful summary of a (nearly) ineffable quality of what constitutes “Lynchian:”
Lynch's work wasn't just "weird."
In the way Studio Ghibli tears are shown as how crying *feels* rather than how it appears, Lynch had feeling lead in his storytelling to the point of superceding the established reality and logic of the art. Not solely dream oddity but dream-emotion elasticity.
