Watching Murders In the Rue Morgue (Robert Florey, 1932) and marvelling at the cute little ape letterhead on the writing paper of Dr. Mirakle (Bela Lugosi), Dr. Mirakle who is abducting women and injecting them with ape blood in order to create a mate for his murderous sideshow ape. Pre Code, yes.

I would love for someone to write the YA novel (or series of novels) where a well-dressed teenager with a love for classic detective fiction actually *is* called in by the French authorities to help solve improbable crimes.

In todays memory lane jaunt it was exactly 50 yrs ago that Pier Paolo Pasolini was murdered. It was also the day my BA Humanities lot set off on a 1 week field trip to Llandrindod Wells. Pasolini's death was my opening conversational gambit to the girl I sat next to on the coach. #winningsmile #gsoh

Really enjoying the audiobook of Martin Latham's The Bookseller's Tale, read by Roy McMillan. Lots of wonderful stuff in there. And I discovered he and I joined Waterstones in the same year, 1988 - he in High Street Ken, me in Charing X Road. I did a few weeks at HSK so our paths must have crossed.

Quite a niche request, but does anyone know where I can find a complete, reliable translation of St John Chrysostom's Christmas Day sermon in 386? (I can see a few online, but I'm not sure how full or how accurate they are.)
