I’ve been using this GIF to describe actions of the Democrats for as long as it’s been technically possible to post GIFs on social media, and it sucks. It has always sucked, but it’s historically unconscionable to be this spineless & complicit when so much is plainly at stake. Primary all of ‘em.

Really important. The Senate Dems who voted for this really got nothing.
Even if an extension of the ACA credits were to get 60 votes in the Senate, there is no guarantee whatsoever that Mike Johnson will allow a vote on that language in the House.

The Speaker alone controls what comes to the floor.

Clearly he sees Dems caving as a win. Which in and of itself should give them pause...
Trump to air traffic controllers: "For those that did nothing but complain, and took time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid, IN FULL, shortly into the future, I am NOT HAPPY WITH YOU. You didn’t step up to help the U.S.A. against the FAKE DEMOCRAT ATTACK"

Ya know what solves this? Eliminating the profit motive for insurance. Best way to do that is universal healthcare coverage, which is why almost every other country has it.

I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

This is important. These Senators, are very obviously out of step with the rest of the party.
Important to note that the DNC, House Dems, 2028 contenders, and even the most pro-leadership pundits and influencers are all laying on Senate Dems right now.

They betrayed all of us. Schumer has no allies left.

This.
Go volunteer for a progressive launching a “hopeless” campaign against an extremely entrenched incumbent currently squatting in a safe Blue seat. The worst thing that happens, is that you drag the incumbent to the Left. Best case? Zohran Mamdani, who was polling at 6% in January.

I bet it's a higher number now.
“67% of Democrats say their own party makes them feel frustrated in the September survey – far higher than the roughly half who said this in 2021 and 2019.”
Two-thirds of Democrats say their own party makes them feel frustrated. By far the most commonly cited reason is that the party is not pushing back hard enough against Trump. www.pewresearch.org/politics/202...

No more pasta!!!
Trump trade war costs US Italian pasta: “Exporters say import and antidumping duties totaling 107% on their pasta brands will make doing business in America too costly and are preparing to pull out of U.S. stores as soon as January.” Via WSJ

Trump administration is set to impose duties of 107% on Italian pasta imports, among most punitive of tariffs it has levied

Our political system is fundamentally broken. It was not designed to represent the will of the people and it is incapable of doing so today.

The people don't want a king. The people don't want Democrats to surrender. The people don't want only two parties.

The people don't want any of this.

Great job, @schumer.senate.gov. You've changed the story from "GOP hurting millions of Americans to please unpopular, failing, delusional despot who's destroying his party" to "Dems are too weak and divided in the face of Trump's strength to take a stand and protect Americans"

This is literally me. And elected Democrats wonder why most of their own people hate them.
So every freelancer you know is going to lose their insurance or be bankrupted by premiums because Schumer is an invertebrate

At least a few get it...
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

Polling consistently indicates that Democratic elected officials are almost as unpopular as Republicans to members their own party.

And they're proving why.

Lots going on but from outside it seems that at least part of the calculus was that flight disruption for middle class and up travelers matters more than life disruption for untold numbers who’ll be deprived of health care.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Zohran Mamdani and Disney… did you know Zohran Mamdani produced the soundtrack for 2016 Disney film Queen of Katwe, starring Lupita Nyongo?

The film was directed by Mamdani’s mother, Mira Nair, who also directed an episode of the Disney+ National Treasure series.

Queen of Katwe has a 94% on RT.

Don't forget this past weekend he said he wanted to restart them then changed his mind again.
Trump is appealing the judicial order to pay full SNAP benefits by tomorrow.

He’s spending tax payer dollars going back to court to try and avoid giving folks money they are legally owed.

He’s starving 42 million people because to him they are leverage.

It’s enraging.

Rewatching Man of Steel (2013) with my son and damn that movie slaps. I think it's better than Superman (2025) which I did enjoy.
Better cinematography, superb pacing, solid performances from a killer cast, and really interesting theme built around "he'll be a god to them".

This is a stunning political realignment--Mamdani lost Jews, Catholics, and Protestants but won by sweeping "Other" and "None."

As a Jewish voter in the 33% I hope my neighbors (literally) in the 63%, who were flooded with dishonest mailers, social media, and texts, will now keep an open mind.
