Today the biggest challenge facing writers is witches. Everytime you go out your door, there are symbols chalked onto the wood, or bits of bone and twig left on the doorstep. Your partner thinks you're just overreacting, but yesterday you caught one trying (unsuccessfully) to milk your cat.

Another thing you have to know about d&d is sometimes it's spending the afternoon with a handsome warlock at a tea shop (my character) & sometimes it's reckoning with unfathomable grief & then learning that in your pre-amnesia life you used to be an automated turbo-killer (my friend's character)
What you have to know about d&d is that sometimes d&d means fighting a coven of hags alongside an enormous scythe-wielding scarecrow monster & sometimes d&d means inadvertently walking into an elevator at the same time as your ex. & sometimes these things happen during the very same session
