We’ve reached that part of the debate where we have to explain the concept of insurance.
My wife and I pay for life insurance even though we have never died. I pay for fire insurance even though my house has never burned down. That's not because we want to throw money at insurance companies. It's because THAT'S HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with a 50 year mortgage with a fixed interest rate. In the long run, it’s probably better for dwellers than renting for 50 years with 5% annual rent inflation.

Don’t you think it’s time that we stop using (insert # of dimensions) chess as a metaphor for advanced strategy?

Maybe when citizens say, “I would rather see productivity gains go to lower prices than to my employer’s profits,” we should just believe them.
Deflation is not as evil as we pretend.

The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

When technology/efficiency leads to higher productivity, either two things can happen: corporate profits increase or prices decline. If corporate profits do not benefit 90% of citizens, those citizens are right to prefer moderate deflation over moderate inflation.
People also don't understand what an economic catastrophe *deflation* is.
A lot of voters seem to have thought that Trump wouldn’t merely slow the rate of inflation, but that he would bring prices down, maybe back to where they were before the COVID spike.

That it could be real makes it real.
Deleted a funny Gov Newsom post as alas, it was from a fan account rather than the real deal.

Today marks exactly one year since a certain someone, who promised to end the war in 24 hours if elected got elected.
Russia started this war, and every single day, it chooses to keep going. Turns out they wont just stop because you asked.

Mamdani’s Universal Childcare proposal is deflationary. And thats *good.* It will increase the supply of labor while also lowering the cost of living.
UCC should be a bipartisan priority. More work gets done, lower prices all around, and smarter/safer kids.

I appreciate Dumpster’s honesty here. Look, there were over 1,000 pardons per year in Biden’s term. Nobody knows them all.
And also, what a perfect way to demonstrate the autopen hypocrisy

Remember, they're currently arguing that Biden's pardons are illegitimate because he signed the actual forms with an autopen.
Trump, meanwhile, repeatedly insists he knows nothing at all about one of his very controversial pardons. Never heard of the guy!
Sorta seems like a problem.

O'DONNELL: Why did you pardon Changpeng Zhao?
TRUMP: Are you ready? I don't know who he is
O'DONNELL: His crypto exchange Binance helped facilitate a $2b purchase of World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. And they you pardoned him.
TRUMP: Here's the thing -- I know nothing about it

If you have a productivity boom, and the profits accrue to a limit number of capital owners, then deflation is preferable to inflation
The Chinese economy, though mired in a property crash and suffering from deflation, has areas of vigour. Much like America itself, it is in the midst of a boom in artificial intelligence
China is using America’s own trade weapons to beat it
It has spent years pinpointing America’s weaknesses and mitigating its own
