Can anyone explain to me how Trump can deploy troops to Los Angeles no matter what the governor or mayor say, but somehow it was Nancy Pelosi who needed to send the National Guard to DC on January 6th and Trump was powerless to do anything about it?

It’s been hard to come up with words regarding the situation at NWS/NOAA the last few days. Roughly 1k meteorologists have been fired, and this will have profound impacts. I just got back from two days in DC fighting for NOAA/NWS. I met with over 12 lawmakers. I am very mad.

This young man is doing amazing things for north carolina (see his prior work on saving lives during helene), meteorology and science it self. All while being a college student. Thank you for going way above and beyond, ethan!
Update: I just got done meeting with SenTedBuddNC. He is on the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. He was unaware of the potential cuts to NOAA/NWS. He told me he would work with me to fight for the NWS and NOAA. He asked about my weather page etc #ncpol

I expect that 2025 hurricane forecasts, not activity forecasts, but intensity and track forecasts will be worse than prior years due to reduced data.

Almost every inconvenience is avoidable if you over plan properly!
Yeah I know people say anxiety is bad, but mine has just been collecting all the possible things that can go wrong so far. Once it has an exhaustive catalog of every possible mishap, it’ll move on to suggesting solutions and then you better watch out.

Almost every inconvenience is avoidable if you over plan properly!
My REU was my first introduction to modeling and certainly shaped my career. This is truly disappointing.
