the gulf between the swift brutality with which places like harvard treated students protesting genocide and the endless, endless latitude those same institutions have given people like larry summers tells you everything you need to know

Extremely upset that a throw-away XKCD joke somehow became the organizing principle for the Internet.

It's a neurotype! Not a disease! Most of the diagnostic criteria are actually manifestations of PTSD as they commonly present in Autistic boys!

It makes the disability aspect of autism worse so much fucking worse. It’s sadistic to exclude people from the continual process of forming societal standards, and then expecting said people who are neurologically distinct to follow them “perfectly”.

What I'm saying is that I believe the majority of generative AI is run on A100 and H100 GPUs, and I see no compelling evidence of large-scale or even minor-scale deployments of Blackwell GPUs

#funk Taking a turn from what I normally listen to, I saw Bonny M. recently and was reminded that this band is actually legit. As long as you like funk anyway.

Famously the lead singer was lip syncing while being a total prima donna. classic music industry nonsense.

Someone on the Minneapolis subreddit caught Waymos being delivered. We need the City Council need to ban the use of driverless cars. The technology isn't there. Our city cannot be a testing ground for 1.5 ton autonomous projectiles.

Soon, we'll oversee a budget of more than $100 billion — and every dollar will reflect our commitment to working New Yorkers and delivering universal childcare. Good thing some little New Yorkers gave me a counting lesson today!

Another one from #doomcharts #SOMEPILLSFORAYALA very crazy reverb on both guitars. Extremely trippy stoner metal.

I contacted a university disability/accommodations office for my dyslexic husband to see if he could get any of these fabled student supports.

"IS HE PERMANENTLY AND IRREPARABLY UNABLE TO FUNCTION?" they inquired.

Upon learning he in fact functions sometimes, they said no to supports.
I find myself increasingly wondering how able bodied people appear to believe that being disabled is"easy."
Getting accommodations in school, uni and/or work: easy, a breeze, even!
Getting a doctor to write you a certificate supporting your needs: EASY!
Working from home: EASY!

Having a mental illness is so funny because you'll explain your thought process to someone and they'll be like, "Well that doesn't make sense," and you're like, "Right, yes, you've grasped the basic concept of mental illness."

#HighFi #Music post ahoy!

I've been reading a lot more about different media types and why they sound different, a big reason vinyl sounds "better" or "smoother" is because it can't participate in the loudness wars like on CD and Streaming, so you just get a better dynamic range from vinyl.

DIE KRUPPS Release Iconic Albums Digitally For The First Time
Several iconic recordings from the extensive catalogue of DIE KRUPPS have never been officially released digitally. This unfortunate situation has finally been rectified and the missing fan-favourite masterpieces are now available through streaming platforms and other digital outlets. Please see below for a detailed list. These digital reissues follow in the wake of the genre-defining German band's latest EP "Will nicht - MUSS!", which had been created as a hand-numbered collectors' CD for their successful 45th anniversary tour and will also be released as limited vinyl editions this December.

A song that really takes you on a fun trip, #SonicYouth #WashingMachine

How do you even describe a band like sonic youth? If they were modern you would call them post punk or something? They have been around forever and are still amazing. 2 guitars 2 bass drums and synth.

#NovemberFire Callback to White Zombie on this album. A lot of long slower guitar solos that you wouldn't ever find on a white zombie album though, and the songs are much longer with separate refrains. Maybe the lead singers voice just reminds me of Rob.
