Todd: Canadiens watch win slip away on botched calls, suspect net work
While dreadful refs had huge impact on Oilers' comeback, Samuel Montembeault came up short when a big save could have stopped the bleeding.

And to be clear... sometimes one team just takes more penalties in a game; it's not up to the refs to even out the number of power plays. BUT when a lot of the calls are marginal shit that happens just about every shift by both teams, then one team taking more feels like a fucking choice. #GoHabsGo

No one expects refs to let you get away with an obvious penalty just because they've fucked up a previous call. But when they CHOOSE to make an utterly marginal call after THAT, and it ends in a goal… maybe following THAT up with a penalty for being annoyed about it… maybe fuck you. #GoHabsGo

As MSL said, they lost but they weren’t beaten.

Call of the Wilde: Montreal Canadiens fall to the Edmonton Oilers - Montreal | Globalnews.ca
The Montreal Canadiens ability to keep the puck out of their own net this season has been a huge key to their six wins in eight starts, but the Oilers can flip that switch.

Not being results based should cut both ways. There have been a few wins this season where the Canadiens needed to realize their process was off. Last night’s loss to Edmonton was the other side of that coin: www.nytimes.com/athletic/674...
Canadiens loss in Edmonton showed more growth than many of their wins
From a five-on-five, a game management, and a consistency perspective, the Canadiens can look at a loss to the Oilers as a building block.

Unsurprisingly, Elizabeth has been inundated with threats for this, thus carrying on Kirk's legacy of hate, intimidation, and a worse future.
