Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

Documentaries thrive because viewers know/believe they present the truth. There have been a lot of alarm bells within the documentary world about how AI threatens that at its core. Good piece here from @alissawilkinson.bsky.social getting at the core of the issue.
As basically anyone who’s talked to me since the summer knows, I’ve been working on this for months. Thanks to everyone who shared their insights. (I’ve got a lot more to say in the future, too.)

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Astonishing to stop and realize that, at any given moment, bands of masked men armed to the teeth are storming churches and daycares, terrorizing entire communities—and that most of the country's political establishment barely blinks.

Epstein built an empire of abuse and a whole lot of people just sat in silence and didn’t say anything.

The epidemic of violence against women is constructed on a foundation of enabling and turning a blind eye.

This post is about the reporters who said nothing when their peer was called ‘Piggy’

We recently found another Suffragette poster that we hadn't seen before. Just working on it now, and will be on our website soon.

Originally block printed by the 'Suffrage Atelier', which was formed in 1909, specifically to create art promoting women's rights.

For some reason I always thought the Edmund Fitzgerald shipwreck happened in the olden times. Gordon Lightfoot’s song is too haunting for an event that occurred in the same year as Laverne and Shirley.

Maybe important to note it was the disruption in air travel that Democrats couldn't stand and not, you know, 40+ million people not knowing where their next meal was coming from.

One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

No it’s important to listen to this. Because then you understand that many of them will do ANYTHING to keep power. Remember Musk got involved in the 2024 election after saying to Tucker “if she wins” I am definitely going to prison.

So we need to move knowing that nothing is off the table for them.

NEW: The US Army website for its bases in Bavaria, Germany told its soldiers and employees that it might need to obtain free food from the German government during the US government shutdown.

The Army later altered publication to remove a list of food banks, but we have the original text here:
US Army Tells Soldiers to Go to German Food Bank, Then Deletes It
The initial 'Shutdown Guidance' for the US Army Garrison Bavaria included instructions to go to German food banks.
