I have a fraught relationship with the term “body horror.” Yet I couldn’t resist writing about it for @criterion.bsky.social: www.criterion.com/current/post...
Mutation as Metaphor: Body Horror’s Visceral Transformations
Classics of the genre—including Andrzej Żuławski’s Possession and David Cronenberg’s The Fly—explore the gory extremes of corporeal experience.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

NEW: I arrived in the U.S. eight weeks ago to report on how the administration’s immigration crackdown was playing out from the front lines.

What I saw Thursday was the culmination of ICE’s aggressive behavior.

there are no nice women married to these terrible men. Melania Trump is a collaborator, not a hostage. Cheryl Hines is perfectly happy with her husband's 'car that smells like death from transporting roadkill home to put in his fridge to eat later' and she's absolutely fine with your child dying
