lots of things to hate about adhdbrain but as far as low-stakes examples go, hard to find one quite so close to the bone as remembering you need to set a timer for the oven, opening the timer on your phone, setting the timer to the right time and then

just

forgetting to hit start

You should have these anyway - admin is never fun and especially not this, but it's so much kinder to your loved ones to do it yourself, instead of kicking it over to them when they will be grieving.

(assuming you have loved ones who will grieve you and you don't want to be unkind to, I guess!)
A grim but practical suggestion: if you’re going out to protest, you should have logistical plans for what your loved ones should do if you get critically injured or die

Advanced directives, wills, etc.

This would be a devastating/traumatic time to leave them with a million difficult decisions ❤️‍🩹

In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

Mamdani: I am in support of abolishing ICE… I'm tired of waking up every day and seeing a new image of someone being dragged out of a car, dragged out of their home, dragged out of their life.

AuSM’s pdfs are really good at giving a clear, accessible overview of topics and especially good I think for stuff like sharing on FB or to extended family who are willing to learn but maybe have v outdated ideas around autism or need help with vocab/language around things

anyway! good stuff

One of the things I find fascinating is how much impact individual motivations and animus can have on world history (in systems that allow it.)

To be fair, I'm used to that meaning, e.g. Cicero just truly fucking hated Clodius rather than that a US President is a wildly self absorbed idiot, but
this Greenland shit is fucking insane. it’s fucking insane. the fact that anyone is humoring him is fucking insane. the biggest problem in the world today is that nobody is taking the president seriously for the fucking psychopath he is. this isn’t all some fucking joke

Keir Starmer often takes 2-3 days to issue very mild criticism of US actions. This is both direct and issued fast.

I think there is a serious risk that the US miscalculated quite what a big deal the Greenland thing is to Europe (and in Europe).
NEW - Starmer says US "completely wrong" in threatening tariffs over Greenland
