Not directly related to the thread, but as I got in another game of JoCo this weekend it struck me that that game, beyond the specific historic context (a vital one to consider, naturally), depicts the dehumanisation of capitalism at both a national and personal level
I've always wondered if the discussion around these games reflects the quality of the work or the fact that I happened to write lot about them. It's really a core insecurity I have the games that I've worked on. Would they speak without this critical framing (the designer diaries, etc)? 🧵
the fact that we dont talk about games like arcs and root when talking about artistic/thematic/political expression in tabletop games points to a fundamental weakness of rpg-centered games discourse

Finished listening to the recent The Truth (Pratchett) with the new cast - this one is Matthew Baynton and honestly it's one of the best audio books I've listened to, certainly the best Discworld one, it's a real shame he's only done this one.
