One of the funniest self-owns on social media is the kind of men who'd like to have a robot girlfriend apparently believing with their whole heart that women would be devastated if men who want robot girlfriends were off the dating market

I don't get why anyone would get a pet and call it a boring name like 'Sooty' or 'Snowball' or 'Luna' when you could call it Derek or Captain Ankles, or Death Lord or Crepuscular Haze.

I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.

It is right that people at the BBC should be accountable for misleading editing of Trump's speech on 6 January, no matter how loathesome the man. It's just depressing to think that there would be no such accountability in America if a Democrat were misrepresented by a broadcaster. 1/2

I do wonder about the future of Remembrance Sunday. When I was a young kid, we were still in an era of collective grief with millions of people who lived through the WWII, still some veterans of WWI around, grieving friends and loved ones. Yet people still act as though we should feel 1/2

JD Vance: 'How can a city attacked by Muslims elect a Muslim?!'
Maybe because the majority of people after the age of about 5 develop an understanding that just because one person or group of people of one kind do something bad, that doesn't mean everyone in that group is like that?

Mamdani is going to impose Shania Law. It won't impress you much.
Mamdani is going to impose Salvia law. Parsley, rosemary, and thyme will be hunted to extinction.
Mamdani is going to impose Sha Na Na law. Everyone will be forced to wear gold lamé, have pompadour haircuts, and go to the hop

If this were Biden or Obama, you know they'd be down there checking the guy was OK and trying to help. Because they are functioning human beings.
The Sociopath-In-Chief couldn't be bothered to even turn his head in the direction of a man in the midst of a medical emergency who collapsed in his office. Completely incapable of empathy, the EPSTEIN Files can't be released soon enough.

Ugh, evening at my least favourite kind of synagogue service - a really joyful, dancing clapping one. For the men. The women are behind a barrier and aren't allowed any joy or spirituality. Oh yeah, and they get told off for talking because that's all they can damn do.

My choir's concert next weekend in you're North London way, featuring Durufle's plainchant-influenced Requiem, and a stunning piece by Howells, written in 1964 in memory of JFK Jr

Listen, my children, as here is unfurled
The story of the sandwich that was hurled
On the 10th of August in ‘25;
What a moment to be alive!
As many chose to look down and duck,
One man decided he had to stand up,
And so he wound up, and said ‘What the f___’
And gave his sandwich a freedom chuck.

'The gender debate has taken men’s accountability off the table. The only women’s rights issues that get attention are the ones men allow to be noticed.' Yup. Excellent article archive.ph/2025.11.06-1...

It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

Mamdani has got me thinking that if Sadiq Khan were standing for the first time in London now, there would have been overwhelmingly hostile, Islamophobic press about him. I don't recall that much at his first election, barring Zak Goldsmith making a pathetic go of it

Of course this doesn't mean the GOP will try to become more electable , they'll just do everything in their power (or beyond it) to prevent Dems being elected in forthcoming contests
