I do volunteering both with catholic based charities and 2 local food pantries and they all get USDA funding/materials through TEFAP, a program that runs along with SNAP, and all orders not in transit have been ended despite available and apportioned emergency funding just like SNAP.

Fixing it is about asking, what would actually help these farmers and their families? Think about land reform, subsidies for food crops, infrastructure, fair trade/markets, etc. If poor working class people had alternatives, they wouldn’t risk their lives growing coca under the thumb of traffickers.

Don't forget that these coca farmers aren’t drug lords. They’re poor, rural workers trying to survive. They grow coca because it’s the only crop that guarantees money in a system that gives them no infrastructure, no subsidies, no future, and no protection from cartels.
