On almost everything – fraud, polarisation, radicalisation, misinformation – evidence suggests that over 60s are in much more urgent need of online protection and education than teenagers.

But that issue gets zero political attention, and is a total non-starter. Nothing good will come of it.
This was a minor story on London news this morning - but suspect is a real cautionary (and alarming) tale of an older man getting radicalised online.

Obviously these listicles are a) v subjective and 2) not to be taken remotely seriously, but I cannot fathom writing up a list of the 20! best time travel movies and overlooking 12 Monkeys. Utter madness.

It’s already yesterday again: the 20 best time-loop movies – ranked!
From commuters reliving disaster to teens stuck in deja vu – the time-loop movie turns repetition into revelation. We round up the best of this oddly resilient subgenre

Look at this, just look at it.

There was a time that we as a species couldn't even make fire and now we can see the goddamn mountains on Pluto.
These are the icy mountains of Pluto. It took 9 years to get these magnificent images… and 4.8 billion kilometers.

Aside from everything else, he's just such a 'please be quiet grandad you're embarrassing us all' loser. How could you be anything other than butt-clenchingly, mortifyingly embarrassed to accept it!

1970s: blah blah baggy trousers moan
1980s: blah blah skinny trousers moan
1990s: blah blah baggy trousers moan
2010s: blah blah skinny trousers moan
2020s: blah blah baggy trousers moan

Dead.
The current trend for very wide-legged trouserwear is a great leveller because they look awful on everyone who wears them. The extra long ones that soak up every dogshit-infused puddle on rainy days are particularly grim.

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.

Banger of a salad - and as ever with home-grown it's free because it came from the garden!

(Never, ever consider the eye watering actual cost)
That point in the season when practically the whole meal is grown or baked at home.
Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, courgette and radishes from the garden. Leftover homemade baguette. It's a good feeling.

Since gerrymandering is in the news again, I think it well worth revisiting the etymology of the word.

A fellow called Gerry changed a voting district boundary, such that is looked like a salamander... Hence Gerry-mander

“Desire paths” are unofficial trails, usually bypassing a planned path, that reveal the most convenient route to get somewhere. The people (AKA meanderthals) that tramp along these routes often wear away grass, creating the secondary path

Walk this way for more on desire paths (a thread / tread)...
