#BBAU Ep2 thoughts - I'm over letting the public vote in a houseguest. It must really suck to go all thru casting, interviews, quarantine, etc. only to have the public get a 30 second view and then have to decide between two people.

If they remade Minority Report in the film style of the most recent War of the Worlds, you’d end up with Mercy (2026)
There were a few thrilling moments, but the bad science of how AI that’s programmed to assume everyone is guilty and then find them guilty can learn to be better is laughable.

There’s going to be Covid style shortages of cars, TVs and even washing machines and fridges, then job losses because assembly lines can’t source solid state memory, just so the stupidest person you know can state with 100% confidence a chatbot confirmed dinosaurs coexisted with humans.
I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

This is happening because OpenAI - a company that does not have anything even approaching a viable business model and is setting money on fire - used borrowed money to advance buy all of the raw materials for RAM production so competitors couldn’t get it
this RAM crisis feels like it’s going to ruin consumer electronics over the next decade. Bloomberg reports that Sony is considering pushing the PS6 release to 2028 or even 2029 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
