Australia’s TGA has added the new Comirnaty LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine, targeting the LP.8.1 variant.

It’s recommended annually for adults 18–64 who aren’t severely immunocompromised and is free for all residents.

Pfizer says it’s now available.

A woman in Saskatchewan needs surgery for a parathyroid issue and is being offered MAiD instead.

There’s no one in the province who can perform the procedure and the government won’t pay to send her elsewhere.

This is why disability advocates warn about assisted dying

Rather than a "long tail", it looks more like a second wave of influenza in NSW to me - case rates have been increasing throughout November, back up to about half the July peak.

I also had chronic lung infections

Schools refuse to open windows for ventilation so I literally stole a window key to survive(my desk was parked right next to the window)

Yes one lesson is to allow everyone access to COVID booster shots every six months like they do in NZ
The “new normal” for Australia in the last few years is around +6% on the pre-pandemic baseline – worse than even the UK (see below). Even out to June this year (as variant evolution slowed) it was still running at +5% annually. Are there any lessons we could learn from NZ?

That's why I'm so grateful for @njbbari3.bsky.social & others who are more capable than I of meeting people where they are. I tried to do the same, until my disabled-to-begin-with body entered a steep decline and 100% of my social circle died or was further disabled. ❤️ to all those still explaining.

My grandma died weeks later. Life hasn't been good ever since. I know my guilt. I mad this horrendous mistake. And I cant deny it. My family does. They do not acknowledge it. I wish it upon nobody.

In case you needed one more reason not to use AI …

The CEO of ChatGPT is blaming a teen’s suicide on his failure to follow the terms of service:

Adam Raine, 16, told ChatGPT he was suicidal and the AI bot told him his feelings were valid and even provided suggestions and detailed instructions.
OpenAI says teen's 'misuse' of ChatGPT is to blame for his suicide, because he broke the TOU: 'Users must comply with OpenAI's Usage Policies, which prohibit the use of ChatGPT for suicide or self-har...
The lawyer presenting Adam Raine's family calls the response "disturbing" and I have to agree.

It's really upsetting seeing the regularity & levels of illness amongst children. From the almost-constant garden variety sore throat, cough, sniffles, buggy things to hospitalisation and stints of weeks off school. It's so wrong. 💔

We need masks in healthcare...ALWAYS
Patient came in with sore throat. While waiting for rapid Strep test result we glanced back at the Covid-19 RAT result: positive. Reminder that masking in health care makes sense, if you don’t want everyone in your waiting room to go home sick, your staff to get sick, and physicians to get sick.

What a surprise.

But in Germany, it seems the downslope has hit a ramp and is possibly trending back up now.

Trolls who’ve had COVID multiple times are now giving health advice. 🤦‍♂️

Every COVID infection harms the immune system and makes you more vulnerable to other illnesses. Hundreds of thousands of studies show this. Taking no precautions in an ongoing pandemic is basically playing Russian roulette.
