Gonna post as many of my #HalloweenTombstones here as I can, while adding alt text! I’ve been coming up with these for several years. Let’s see how many are still relevant. 🧵

Public Health: We may not keep
you healthy, but we’ll keep you calm!
This is absolutely true.
I don't know about other countries, but public health experts here minimized this the same way they did COVID.

It is as if they think their job is to keep the public calm rather than to inform them.
This was clearly the trajectory we were on in the Spring.

We could see this coming.

Rather than ring the alarm bells, too many PH officials jumped on every opportunity to minimize this, even last month here in Ontario.

It’s shameful.

He is saying to get your flu shot.

(I agree)

He is saying that “medically vulnerable” people should get the shot.

He says he felt “crummy” a week ago and that’s the reason his voice isn’t good. Host suggests lemon and honey to the ID specialist.

Me: how about an N95 and HEPA?

You know what 100% will definitely cause them to experience “differential treatment”? Having a gender/sex on their passport that doesn’t match with how they present or identify.
Unforgivably disingenuous.
“Displaying passport holders’ sex at birth no more offends equal protection principles than displaying their country of birth — in both cases, the Government is merely attesting to a historical fact without subjecting anyone to differential treatment,” the majority wrote.”

The ship had a keel that never could heal
From the neglect of some welds that were broken
SS Edmund Fitzgerald had a structural defect in its keel. Sailors on that ship had complained about the ship bending and flexing during storms, especially when it was overloaded, which it usually was. They had also found old keel weld breaks due to structural fatigue, which were never repaired

Interesting alternative to eating all the power and water here to power AI. How we use AI is another entire issue that needs WAY more discussion as I have serious concerns we need better regulations to protect we the people. But this at least solves some of the power and cooling issues.

This post is over the top in hyping up Carney, but separate from that it is significant that this is a real statement made by a Canadian Prime Minister, and there is no real basis to challenge its accuracy.
PM Mark Carney was talking about attracting foreign investment to Canada and listed reasons Canada is a good place to invest. A reporter pointed out that the U.S. has those things, too. What sets Canada apart?

PM Carney: "Well, we have rule of law."
