Sometimes you’re lucky.
Sometimes you’re luckier.
Been at work and missed this. Huge.
You might not have caught what just happened on the Senate floor, but the Senate just “deemed as passed” the Epstein resolution.

That means as soon as it arrives from the House, it automatically passes the Senate (with no amendments) and heads to the President’s desk.

Wow.

it was already happening but it's cool how the solution to gerrymandering is more gerrymandering everywhere all the time instead of just banning gerrymandering

One of my worst fears. This is positively medieval and entirely misogynistic.
The rate of sepsis in Houston surged 63% after Texas banned abortion.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where hospital leaders empowered doctors to intervene before patients’ conditions worsened, it rose 29%.

Why Hospital Policies Matter in States That Ban Abortion
Our first-of-its-kind data analysis found that a seismic split emerged in how medical institutions in Texas' two largest metro areas, Houston and Dallas, treated miscarrying patients — and in their ou...

People who dismiss e-books or audiobooks as being somehow less worthy or less meaningful than physical books are missing the point of books. Books are not ink and paper, just as human beings are not defined by their physicality. Books are connections; emotions; ideas; just like their creators.

I cannot say I will ever be able to take either of them seriously ever again…
The way both Ryan Lizza and Olivia Nuzzi are now selling their personal lives like melodramas while also both still supposedly being serious political journalists makes me deeply uncomfortable

It is a book that should be at the center of civic and democracy debates. Perhaps today more than when it was written, it offers a path forward. #Books
