Caving on a deal that doesn’t fix health care is, and always has been, a giant betrayal of the American people.

Hold the line. Save health care. I’m a NO on anything that doesn’t extend ACA subsidies.

Tokyo’s average annual temperature has increased by about 3.0 °C from ~1876 to ~2019. This includes both global warming and additional warming due to urbanisation and continued loss of green spaces. Meanwhile, Tokyo Met Gov’t is felling hundreds of mature trees in downtown parks for redevelopment.

Reminder that "gender ideology" is not an actual thing. It's a vague bogeyman created by the religious right to oppose women's rights and LGBTQ+ rights:

when i got to oxford they gave the international students an orientation on using the NHS and said that sometimes for dental emergencies, you have to go to a private dentist and that can cost a lot. I asked how much and she said £40 and I burst out laughing.
Every once in a while I tell people from other countries about how the health insurance system works in the US and they are aghast. Yesterday a guy straight up didn’t believe me when I said people can die because of not being able to afford medicine. He was sure I meant in the distant past.

Seeing this photo make rounds as a “Shinto Kami.”

No. This is a photo of two Jizo-sama from Tenryuji in Arashiyama, Kyoto. They’re definitely Buddhist, not Shinto.

Due to Haibutsu Kishaku and local practices, a fair few of these roadside protectors were (semi) Shinto-ized, but this one was NOT.

The parts are laid out, slotted together, and then meticulously bound in rope.

This is the second time Azeen has done this. She still hasn't mentioned the Utah report at all.
Germany, Austria and Switzerland issued a massive joint report endorsing gender affirming care for trans youth and heavily criticizing the Cass report and this is how Azeen reports it yet again. She never wrote an article on it or gave its authors a massive cover story like Cass.

Instead of “Alligator Alcatraz” or “Alligator Auschwitz”, let me suggest that we call it simply the Dade-Collier Concentration Camp.

Hang the name on Florida. Make them own this disgraceful moment in U.S. history. Make our grandchildren lobby to change the name of Dade County out of shame.

Can confirm this email is authentic — and about nothing in it is true.

Social Security income is still taxed. This bill does nothing to change that.

It’s willful disinformation on the part of SSA. It’s a lie.
Hi, I think a lot of us received e-mails from SSA saying that social security will no longer be taxed - and that somehow there is "enhanced deductions" (how much enhancement can you make to 0?) for those over 65. What part, if any, of this is true? Thank you!

Lander also provides some excellent Jewish cover for Mamdani's support for ideas like "globalize the intifada" and BDS which promote, encourage, and seek to justify villainization, ostracization, and violence against Jewish people, and eliminating Jewish self-determination in our ancestral homeland.

1. Today, 200,000 marched in Budapest Pride in defiance of a ban by Orbán's far-right government.

It was led by the city's mayor Gergely Karácsony, who got around the law by making it an "official city gathering."

He was warned of arrest.

They marched anyway.
