400 miles from my house so not quite in “my area” (this is Texas, after all 🤠 ) but if I could take someone anywhere in the state, I’d head straight west to Balmorhea and Fort Davis State Parks. The Davis Mountains are absolutely our #happyplace. Endless vistas plus dark skies and the observatory!

Remember sitting in history, thinking “If I was alive then, I would’ve…”

You’re alive now. Whatever you’re doing is what you would’ve done.

Husband just asked if I wanted to watch some Cake People and I knew immediately that he was referring to the Great British Baking Show.

When I was a kid, I thought a sundae was made from homemade (tart!!) plain yogurt topped with blackstrap molasses and either sunflower seeds or wheat germ.
Some you had parents who never had a carob phase and it shows.

An excellent thread.
So I hate to be That Guy, but we're entering into uncertain territory here with the Epstein Files, and it's more important than ever that we make sure we know all the facts before we blow things up.

I'm talking now about the "tips" that DOJ is now releasing. They sound super salacious and evil.

There are parts of the Bible that are hard to interpret, but there are more than enough straightforward parts to keep us plenty busy while we wrestle with the remainder.
James Talarico: The Bible doesn't mention abortion or gay marriage, but it goes on and on about forgiving debt, liberating the poor, and healing the sick. The closest thing we have to the kingdom of heaven is a multiracial, multicultural democracy where power is truly shared among all people

One of the more excellent books I finished this year: an accurate and poignant depiction of 2000s-era evangelical adolescence, and also genuinely hilarious (particularly in audio).

20 minutes of breathless yelling (80%+ of it “alternative facts” or outright lies) while clearly on some kind of uppers. But it wasn’t a declaration of war, so there’s that, I guess?!
What the absolute [expletive] was that?!?

YES. All this could have been avoided had *certain people* ever once recognized their own need for therapy.

But no, instead the entire world gets to live with the consequences of their unresolved brokenness.

Work on yourselves, folks. It’s genuinely the most caring thing you can do for others. ❤️
That's this whole administration, I think, they were all very obviously deeply wounded by their upbringings in ways that just broke them as human beings.

They are irreparably hurt people channeling their rage at their own spiritual wounds into violence at an incompressible scale.

Sooo I'm in training to become a spiritual director, and apparently it's best to learn with real directees. 🤭 I could use more volunteers so I'm making a public invitation for the first time. 🙏 Could you use some (free!) (not-yet-professional!) (Jesus-centered!) companionship? 1/
