HFT members had a busy week! On Wednesday, we participated in the Hamtramck Recreation Dept Trunk or Treat event, passing out books and donated food to the community. On Halloween, members showed off their creative side with some fun costumes!

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

This is a way more complete take-down of the Debate Me Bro trash than my thread this morning.
One thing that I think some not-youngs forget (and is different from 20 years ago) is that Kirk used his ‘debates’ to generate video that could go viral and, to use an old phrase, catapult the propaganda. His debates weren’t in any way, shape, or form educational.
When Charlie Kirk, who put together lists of professors he didn't like so people could target & harass them, used the phrase "free speech", he used it in the same way creationists use "teach the controversy." For Kirk, it was just another way to bludgeon the left and also to promote his propaganda.

Our educational system is based on the retail model of endless growth. Kindergarteners now do desk work and are tested instead of playing. This does no one any good.
I really have no idea how a country that has consistently defunded education, let a cognitive inhabiting virus ravge their population, and created a digital culture that both silos people and thrives on rage bait, became so dysfunctional.
