I love my union and our members.
HFT members had a busy week! On Wednesday, we participated in the Hamtramck Recreation Dept Trunk or Treat event, passing out books and donated food to the community. On Halloween, members showed off their creative side with some fun costumes!

The Board of Education of the School District of the City of Hamtramck will meet tomorrow, December 11th, at 6:00pm. This meeting was rescheduled from December 4th. The meeting will be streamed on the District's Public YouTube channel.

Monday I attended the Wayne-Westland Teachers picket. They are in the middle of intense contract negotiations.

If educators are pushing back there is good reason.

Teacher working conditions are student learning conditions.

In the early 1940s Hamtramck teachers went on strike over the firing of over 40 married teachers ("to balance the budget"), threats to fire any other teacher who married, and school board corruption.
