THIS. Did you know sickle cell is curable, now? FULLY curable.

If you're feeling down or despairing about what FEELS like technology/advancement/science "standing still" or being fully malicious, I have great news: You're not paying attention to actual science. Just tech industry marketing.
meanwhile.... medicine has taken INSANE leaps and bounds in the last 2 years.
we're out here curing HIV and leukemia and creating 100% efficacy vaccines against all sorts of cancers, and now this??

between this and renewable energy outstripping fossil fuels in efficiency, the future is bright
Wanna see real-life miracles? Fund scientific research.

A team of US scientists just cured Alzheimer’s in mice — and there is now hope that the disease can be reversed in humans.

For the record: when that day finally happens, I will not be blasting Celebration by Kool and the Gang or Ding Dong the Witch is Dead. It's going to be Ewok Celebration. I will not accept this Victory Celebration substitution; yet another reason why I don't own the Star Wars original films on BluRay
"Ewok Celebration", aka "Yub Nub" (which means "Freedom", take note Aretha), was replaced by "Victory Celebration" in the 1997 Special Edition of Return of the Jedi. It was written by John Williams, with lyrics by Joseph Williams, translated into Ewokese by Ben Burtt.

To be clear, what I want is not to continue to use my old iPhone as a locked down device tied to the App Store.

What I want is to be able to use it as a general purpose *computer*, a task it would excel at given how much computing power is jammed into these things.

We upgraded phones. I've got 2 iPhone 13s and an iPhone X on my desk laying fallow.
The PC I'm posting this from was company e-waste from before these phones were new.
My MacBook Air is effectively an iPhone with a keyboard and screen.
Why can't I re-purpose my old iPhones outside of being a phone?

Will he succeed?
Will he burn down the Moonbase?
Is there a middle ground?
