Just guessing here, but I suspect the White House is pushing so hard for wars of conquest on multiple fronts because they see their support collapsing ahead of the midterms and worry they won't get another shot. An example of how tyrants become more dangerous as they get weaker, not less.

I love “A Measure of a Man,” but the premise is…insane. The enlightened Federation apparently let Data join Starfleet, promoted and decorated him several times, all without *first* working out if they considered him a person or a toaster. :p

I’ve come back to Ghost of Yotei after a break and cripes, that game is just *absurdly* pretty at all times.

I can't believe I'm posting this video - but we actually have to have a conversation about the real world implications of America going to war over Greenland.

Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.

The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

So a CBS Evening News reporter actually did a pretty solid breakdown of the ICE murder video, talking to a former agent who details all the ways Ross messed up. And yet: It didn’t air on the actual show tonight. CBS did post it to YouTube—and it has nearly 800k views already youtu.be/6ywLEESFDu0?...

losing my mind at the "she should have followed directions" people

really? really? you're cool with "if you don't follow directions, they get to kill you"? that seems like a good state of affairs to you? that seems like how law enforcement ought to work: instant obeisance or death?

In my case it took 5 1/2 years to get a visa to move to Canada, and I was lucky to have the time and resources.
It’s cute when non-Americans think we can just leave the country and move somewhere else to escape all this, as if their governments haven’t also made their immigration processes just as cruel and slow.

The problem with watermarking images as AI is not all images will be watermarked given old phones, homebrew AI models, etc.

This fosters a risky expectation that unlabeled content is authentic. It’s safer to assume unmarked images are AI than to trust that the absence of a watermark proves reality.

Just finished Stranger Things. Season 5 was definitely the weakest on multiple fronts, but the ending was strong. Thankfully not a GoT situation. Good stuff. :)

It’s no surprise that people now rail more against AI which provides genuine value to hundreds of millions of people than crypto which is a grifter’s paradise.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

I ran ShadowDark for my family tonight, the first time my mother has ever played a TTRPG. The dice were not kind and the whole party wiped, sadly, but not before Mom killed the titular Scarlet Minotaur with a crossbow bolt into the butt. Fatal colonoscopy.
