I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Because the right-wing 2A folks are realizing that the government can use the same excuses to shoot them regardless of their concealed carry permits.

I was once a member of the NRA, including back in the Obama Admin days when they were screaming that the 2A and the right to bear arms was needed to potentially oppose a tyrannical government that was <checks notes> giving them healthcare coverage. They were completely full of sh*t back then too.
The new conservative position on gun control is apparently that lawfully carrying a licensed handgun means you deserve to be executed in the street by masked federal agents

I'm glad they never made a sequel and ruined the story.

He was primarily a NJ guy, but if you grew up in the '70s/'80s anywhere in the NYC/NJ metro area and knew where to find him on the UHF television dial, Uncle Floyd was necessary viewing. RIP. 😢

Well, at least the snowblower is ready. 🤨

N.J. weather: Widespread 12 to 18 inches of snow, dangerous ice to slam state this weekend. Latest forecast.

The actor, Lee Wallace, who plays the mayor of NYC, bears a definite resemblance to Ed Koch who, four years after this movie came out, was actually elected mayor of NYC.

Since I live in NJ, that would be the Raritan.
Depending on what counts as “home”, either the Merrimack or the Pawtuxet.
My favorite Twitter prompt was "RT this with your home river," so reskeet this with your home river.

Mine is the Patuxent.

🧵 Thread.
I wonder what any of you would do differently in your lives if I said "yes, America is at this moment a fascist nation."
Because I tell ya what, if I thought so, I'd be doing things differently. For starters, I wouldn't bother worrying about elections or candidates or whom to support. /1

If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.

As a native NY-er, I'm taking a wait-and-see position on Mamdani, but I will say that his choice of the old City Hall station as the site for his swearing-in was inspired.
BREAKING

Zohran Mamdani has been sworn-in as the 112th Mayor of New York City.

Since @porpster.bsky.social will be taking a well-deserved vacation, just wanted to note that today's #AT40 is the top fifty songs of 1979, originally broadcast on December 29, 1979. It is literally Casey's very last countdown show of the 1970s.
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

FYI: I usually take the last two weeks of the year off when they air the special #AT40 episodes.

Here at midnight in the NYC metro area, we can watch Pope Leo XIV's first Christmas Eve mass (recorded) from the Vatican or Cardinal Dolan's last Christmas Eve mass (live) from St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan. I think I'll stick with the guy from Chicago. 🇻🇦
