The Wave Motion Gun
What's the coolest anime weapon?

IMO, it's the caster gun from Outlaw Star, a combination of a sawn-off shotgun and a grenade launcher that fires bullets that some Taoist mage slapped a talisman on. It's strangely incredibly sensible as a weapon.

Thought we'd just do something fun this morning~

The thing about America today is that if you just describe what is happening objectively and unemotionally you sound hysterical and partisan and what you have to remind people is that the reason for that is not you, it's the people doing the things you are describing
This guy went to work today, put a mask on, kidnapped a 5 year old child, and then used him as bait so both he and his father could be sent behind bars

The US granted visas to Jews but only allowed 30,000 in from Germany a year. You had to wait for your number to come up.

Meet Robert Smallbones. An unassuming British diplomat who 'hacked' this system so effectively (saving 48 THOUSAND Jews) the UK government kept his scheme secret for decades /1 🧵

Looks like this’ll be the weekend where a bunch of UVM freshman say to themselves “I picked this school WHY??” 🤣

Just watched “Three Days of the Condor”. Pretty good! (Though I would not say great.)
And oh boy, does it bleed 1970s from every pore!

the western alliance was born in the fires of the most catastrophic conflict in the history of the world. republicans are spitting on the graves of the dead. these men and women are human filth.
Genuinely insane we are living in a world where the Danish have to deploy a battlegroup to protect themselves against America. Makes my blood turn molten, honestly

Hey @akivamcohen.bsky.social — do you have a good thread to link in on why this is such a terrible, terrible comparison?
You're a Christian, right? How much difference is there, really, between the money changers and the Director of ICE? At least in terms of how they corrupt and defame the faith?

I honestly want to hear your thoughts.

We are watching one of the wildest things a nation-state has ever done: A superpower is committing suicide because the GOP Congress is too cowardly to stand up to the Mad King.

This is one of the wildest moments in all of geopolitics ever.
Footage shows Danish troops arriving in Greenland as part of a new military deployment. Among the personnel who landed on the island is Major General Peter H. Boysen, Chief of the Danish Army Command. #Greenland

This opens up wider questions about how far the UK and Canada in the 5 eyes intel sharing framework as well as other former allies of the United States can still provide the Americans with any sensitive intelligence information at all

See Burns's "The American Revolution". He didn't shy away from talking about how dirty things were. (Though it wasn't limited to the Patriots. The Loyalists were pretty bad too. It was a very ugly war.)
Yeah.

The only reason they're not considered terrorists is they won.

The colonists fought dirty. They HAD to. Outmanned and outgunned, they ambushed, raided, and sabotaged. That's how you win an asymmetric war.

My grandpa, who escaped Hitler, who watched his family get shoved into cattle cars (and whose sister was literally separated from her mother by Mengele), had a refrain: "hope, hope, hope."

Try to carry this fwd. It's hard, yes, but do it bc what choice do we have?
