Today, in the mild stillness at dawn, a song thrush sang for the first time in four months. Nowhere near his full-bodied spring best of course, yet still glorious. I’m reminded of just how much I love his voice, his beauty and exuberance.

I don't know if this is my favorite Todd Snider song, or the best Todd Snider song but it is undisputably the most Todd Snider song.

Did u know? It's been a fab year for Ladybirds. So wonderful to see them in such large numbers. Now, they're looking to find quiet corners to overwinter. I had a hunt for these sleepy heads in my garden yesterday & it was amazing how many I found - every nook & cranny.Sleep well, little ones. 🌿🌱🇬🇧🌱🪲🌍🐞

At Whitehorse, Yukon, a few days ago, a woman jogging on a popular trail at 11am was attacked and beaten. She fought the guy off then chased him screaming as he ran away. A 20-year-old guy was arrested within 24 hours. Today, hundreds of women walked in solidarity. Whitehorse, you're beautiful ❤️

Butterscotch Bear, so soft and sweet,
Caramel paws and gentle feet.
A warm embrace, a quiet glow,
A cozy friend to take it slow.

🐻🥰🌈

Butterscotch is a little gay bear, made by a not so little gay bear (who also happens to be this potter.)

When the Egyptian folk hero Setne broke into the tomb of Prince Naneferkaptah to steal a magic book, the prince's mummy challenged him to senet, an old Egyptian board game. The more Setne lost the game, the more the floor enveloped him. However, he used magic amulets to break free.

The Tlingit game ahl-kar or stick game involved moving sticks around in piles while they were hidden and wrapped in cedar bark. The goal was to guess where a marked stick was located. The marked fish was called "naq" or which means "devil fish" and was used as bait when fishing.

i fully agree with this theory and in my actual field, british architectural history, The Problem is that Salisbury Cathedral is built on top of a lake and no i am not exaggerating
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them
yes yes we all know about the Edmund Fitzgerald, rest her soul, but did you know about the ship laden with explosives that sank in the mouth of the Thames in 1944 and could explode at any minute and which attempts to disarm keep failing

I’m speaking at this really fun, feminist event about the Virgin Mary on November 25th. If you’re in Toronto and this seems like it would be up your alley, I’d love to see you there! Kadie is an amazing and dynamic woman and I love her vision of revisiting biblical women through a modern lens.

I got to see the 10 October 2024 event from a deserted rural road. When the colors suddenly exploded overhead the air was filled with vocalizations of coyotes, deer, sleepy songbirds, and the neighbors' longhorn cattle.
Feel like I got the best of both worlds
