🚨Check out this new study from our Research Unit member @bjornschumacher.bsky.social on gene expression patterns linked to age deceleration and rejuvenation during Dauer Diapause. Congratulations! 🎉
🚀 🚀 🚀 Our latest paper is out now: Age Deceleration and Reversal Gene Patterns in Dauer Diapause. We can learn from nature how aging of a whole organism with completely differentiated tissues can be slowed and how that organism can be completely rejuvenated.

Age Deceleration and Reversal Gene Patterns in Dauer Diapause
The dauer diapause is a naturally occurring extraordinarily long-lived alternative C. elegans larval stage that, upon dauer exit, lives a normal adult life with full reproductive capacity. Here, we d...

🧓How aging drives neurodegenerative diseases🧠
@thevilchezlab.bsky.social @cecad.bsky.social has identified a direct molecular link between aging and neurodegeneration by investigating how age-related changes in cell signalling contribute to toxic protein aggregation.

🚨 New from our lab: Here we explored how aging contributes to harmful protein aggregation in diseases like Huntington’s & ALS.
The culprit? An overlooked aging factor — EPS8 and RAC signaling. #Aging #Longevity #Proteostasis #ALSResearch

Excited to share our latest work! We asked if and how TDP-43 regulates RNA transport in neurons and if this is misregulated in ALS. We found that it works to keep RNAs *out* of neurites, and that loss of TDP-43 activity results in specific RNAs aberrantly accumulating there.

I have no words to express how much I owe to Joan for his mentorship and advice. I became a professor thanks to his unwavering support. For instance, he insisted that I take English courses—and even paid for them—because I didn’t speak English while pursuing my PhD. I will miss you tons 😢😢
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Joan Guinovart, founder, former scientist, director, and Emeritus Professor of IRB Barcelona.

Our deepest condolences to his loved ones and the IRB Barcelona community.

You will always be remembered, Captain.
