QUESTION: Why did it take so long to invent self-trimming wicks?!??
Candles have been used for thousands of years, but the self-trimming wick was only invented in the 1800s.
Was it dependent on some other technology or material? What took so long?
I am perplexed!

They should revive The X-Files again but have it only be about Doggett working a desk job in the FBI.

Ensure text is readable in data visualizations and information graphics. Small text is generally harder to read, and should be avoided where possible. Make sure the text is not obstructed by other chart elements, and has sufficient contrast against its background.

Equipment Lifecycle Management in the Eyes of the FDA
The October 2025 Warning Letter to Apotex Inc. is fascinating not because it reveals anything novel about FDA expectations, but because it exposes the chasm between what we know we should do and what we actually allow to happen on our watch. Evaluate it together with what we are seeing for Complete Response Letter (CRL) data, we can see that companies continue to struggle with the concept of…

There's a gazillion ways to build a scene with zero drawing skills. You can build rooms with Sims, Minecraft, probably a dozen other tools online. You can use stuff like HeroForge for posing a character. Or- and perhaps most importantly - be fine with doing it badly. We used to be like that with art

I watched it in grad school and was SHOOK. If you haven’t watched it, I’m not sure you can appreciate the significance of President Woodrow Wilson loving it so much that he screened it in the White House. The first film to be screened there, of course. It is incandescently racist.
one thing that is important to know is that BIRTH OF A NATION is so racist that people at the *time*, in 1915, were like, “holy shit this is racist”
When the slightest bit of research shows he was consistently racist and a daddy issues Confederate fanboy.

People try to paint BIRTH OF A NATION as a masterpiece with some unfortunate racism. The whole movie is racist, the “masterpiece “ thing was backfilled to excuse it.

It’s chilly across Houston this morning, with outlying areas falling all the way into the upper 30s. Most of us are in the lower 40s. This is as cold we’re going to get for awhile, and a rather swift warm-up will begin 24 hours from now. We’ll then be unseasonably warm through Christmas.

Hoppy Friday!!

We actually have some sunshine here, a nice change after the grey rainy day we had yesterday. Plus the weekend is almost here!!

And here is Peanut hopping in to brighten your day. He might even do some zoomies and binkies.

He’s a big fan on sunny weather.

Even though this picture is not from today, Gobblekins still wins Cat of the Day because she hates Fall. Specifically, she hates leaves falling on her!
All the leaves are falling off the pecan tree & onto the patio, so she is spending a lot of time inside her box house!

"Your body, your choice." I've been saying that to my kids since they could talk. There's no autonomy without bodily autonomy. No freedom without freedom to do with your body what you want and to decline to have done to your body what you don't want. Freedom begins with our control over our bodies.
