One of the reasons this was banned is because it catered to the female gaze showing girls and women that we can be whoever we want whenever we want.

This is very sweet and completely false. Men leave when women get sick. Women are six times more likely to be abandoned in sickness than men. Look at your partner right now and honestly ask yourself if their behavior links to them staying.

Once a month for the past ten years guards have tortured men for fun and games.
The Times identified 120+ instances in which guards were described as having punched, kicked or stomped on inmates, smashed their fingers in cell doors, held their legs apart and struck their genitals with batons, and even waterboarded them — all while they were handcuffed or otherwise restrained.

I keep telling this story.

Imagine a vast orchard, bequeathed to the Boomers by their parents.

They spend their working lives tending it, growing it, selling the apples and cider. They show it to their kids, and they say, "It'll be up to you to keep this going when I retire."

I think prison abolition means that we need to radically rethink "prison" because that word implies dehumanization, total lack of autonomy, vulnerability to abuse and violence from other prisoners and from guards, a whole host of awful things that are not intrinsic restricted freedom of motion.
