Unclear where this war profiteering plan came from or why it emerged right now, but clear that it is in every way disastrous
This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

Gee, wow, Poland can station its own fighter jets on its own territory, and can allow international partners to station there as well. Thanks for the permission, Moscow.

Good example of how an acronym can dehumanize consequences and mask what’s going on. Syntactically, “Diversity slayer,” “equity slayer,” or “inclusion slayer” sounds weird. They aren’t “slaying” these things; they’re promoting and supporting their opposites: segregation, unfairness, and exclusion.

Hopefully we don't have to wait 50 years for the next sane president to remove all Trumpist vestiges, including tearing down the Ballroom and the Wall and restoring the Rose Garden and renaming anything that is desecrated with the foul Trump name.

Guest: Trump found a way to actually make MBS look better than him. It was an astounding moment. We had the American president defending the murder of an American journalist. It really made us look small. It made the United States look like a wingman to Saudi Arabia.

Opinion | I believed Hillary Clinton was a sex trafficker because one of her donors owned a pizza restaurant and "cheese pizza" has the same initials as "child pornography." Here's why I don't think Donald Trump's multi-decade best friendship with a sex trafficker connects him to sex trafficking.

The grand jury’s report initially said they had rejected all 3 counts against Comey. It was later “fixed” to say they had rejected only count 1. Halligan prepared a new indictment for counts 2 & 3 only, but did not present it to the grand jury. The statute of limitations has expired. Oops. 1/
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution

Members of congress releasing a video message to members of the United States military telling them "you must refuse illegal orders" might be the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen.
We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community.

Routinely using unreasoned orders to make major policy baseline shifts and to overrule longstanding precedents sub silentio is an obviously indefensible form of judicial power in the abstract, and it's also predictable that the shadow docket is even more nakedly partisan than the merits docket
Of all the terrible things Roberts has done, this was the most shocking stat: "the right-wing majority has used the shadow docket to uphold Trump’s actions roughly 90 percent of the time, repeatedly bailing him out of any obligation to follow the law"
There’s one person squarely to blame for Trump’s corruption, authoritarianism & assault on democracy: John Roberts. He’s enabled so much of Trump’s lawlessness while somehow escaping accountability for it

Fuck Matthew Yglesias forever. He says environmentalism is bad. He can fuck all the way off, now. What a fucking contrarian piece of shit.
If there’s no shale gas then there’s no shale gas, but I still think environmentalism is basically bad and politicians should focus more on material prosperity.

Trump illegally fired Comey in May 2017 and told the Russian foreign minister he’d done it to stop investigations of Trumpworld’s ties to Russia.

Trump should have been impeached and removed from office for that, in 2017.

Comey isn’t even a political opponent. He’s a Republican law enforcement official who’s never run for office. Trump just hates him for refusing to be a co-conspirator.
At today's Comey hearing, Michael Dreeben argued: "This has to stop. ... A message needs to be sent to the Executive Branch. You cannot allow the president to take advantage of the authority of the EB to use as a cudgel to damage [and intimidate] political opponents."

Willful and blatant defiance of a court order is a RED LINE between democracy and authoritarianism. No court orders, no rule of law. No rule of law, no democracy.
Pro tip:

With Chief Judge Boasberg moving full steam ahead on finding which US officials were responsible for ordering defiance of his order...

And whistleblower most likely to testify...

Here's where this is heading in significant part:

Whistleblower Documents Implicate Emil Bove in Criminal Contempt Order by Chief Judge Boasberg
Email released by whistleblower would presumably implicate Bove in the “contumacious conduct” identified by Chief Judge Boasberg.

When the forces of liberal democracy get back in power they use every possible civil and criminal tool to obliterate the autocrats until they can’t do a damn thing.

This isn’t hard. We PUNCH Nazis, and authoritarians, and fascists.

Not shake hands.
I urge members of the legal profession to realize that prosecuting individuals who seek to overturn the constitutional order is not "retaliation" in any normatively significant sense.
