If you have tenure at Texas A&M and aren't maliciously emailing the president a dozen times every day to ask if you can say this or you can say that, then what's the point in having tenure?
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Texas A&M adopts policy requiring professors to get OK from school president to discuss certain race and gender issues.

Everyone figured out we’re bad and scary except for us.
Exclusive: European financial stability officials are debating whether to create an alternative to Federal Reserve funding backstops by pooling dollars held by non-US central banks in a bid to reduce their reliance on the US under the Trump administration, sources say reut.rs/47OPvJf

This is going to get spun as a "thermostatic shift" chart, but it should be properly interpreted as a "information environment is broken" chart.

In 2024, voters didn't know what Trump would do, and so they shifted towards him based on vibes. Now they are finding out, and they hate it.
Nearly every county in Virginia has shifted blue in a massive statement against Donald Trump.

Why are disciplinary records kept private? Police unions make confidentiality a huge priority, letting collective bargaining agreements lapse for years, if needed, until jurisdictions agree to keep these records locked up.
For one of my final stories with @wired.com, I teamed up with @peggylowe.bsky.social at KCUR to dig through a Kansas City, KS police hack

Inside were some of the most disturbing misconduct files I’ve ever read—and a secret list of cops the department said couldnt be trusted

Here are a few of them:

One of the things I most resent is knowing who Ezra Klein is. For the exact reasons below: he knows nothing, has no expertise, is clinically wrong for living.

For a person who has worked hard to develop expertise and has struggled to be taken seriously, Ezra Klein is a living nightmare.
It's rich that Klein of all people would weigh in on this. He's the quintessential lib pundit who 1) talks to no one on the ground, 2) has no relevant expertise at all, and yet 3) is confident in the path forward. It's the pundits and consultants who have strangled the party to death!
I will never understand the pundit obsession with getting Democrats to solve "political division."

Not only is this what they're already doing, but Klein admits that Republicans will never do the same. So elections will remain constant GOP smears and simping Democratic promises of bipartisanship.

A 61-year-old Tennessee man posted a liberal meme on Facebook after Charlie Kirk's death. A conservative sheriff had him arrested. Bail was set at $2 million.

He spent nearly 40 days in jail before charges were dropped. Now he's planning to sue. Our story: www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

The first version of “Disco Elysium” contains about a million words; “Final Cut” has even more. Gabriel Winslow-Yost parses some of them in our new issue and turns to the novel the game was built upon: Robert Kurvitz’s “Sacred and Terrible Air.”

The world of Disco Elysium evokes both postrevolutionary melancholy and communist fervor for a more just world.

Federal Judges— or staff, but same-same— used "AI" to summarize & draft rulings, issued them w/o checking the work, leading to basic factual errors, & thus undermining the facticity & validity of the rulings entire.

Gee. Who Could Have Foreseen. *stares directly into the camera like in the office*
Two federal judges say use of AI led to errors in US court rulings
Two federal judges admitted in response to an inquiry by U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley that members of their staff used artificial intelligence to help prepare recent court orders that Grassley called "error-ridden."

Dear ppl who are complaining that this image "has no alt text": the image is CLEARLY DESCRIBED IN THE SKEET. THAT IS ALT TEXT. Using the specific Bluesky mechanism to add an alt="" attribute to an image is ONE WAY of doing image description but some of y'all treat "alt text" as a magic incantation.

"In order to defeat fascism, we must embrace many factions: liberals, centrists, conservatives, white nationalists, transphobes, misogynists, fascists, "
it's funny how their 'big tent' only extends right, never left, and how they always blame its failure on dirty hippies refusing to come inside, not their own embrace of TERFs, fascists and other exclusionary demographics
Folks demanding political / ideological purity fail to see that this is no longer a movement belonging to the left / liberals. This is an opposition against fascism. By definition it must be big tent. Failure to grasp this: see divided oppositions in Eastern Europe as your failed examples.

They're talking about killing leftist activists. They're talking about murdering people organizing in defense of immigrant communities, doing mutual aid work, and protesting their violence. They are talking about murdering people like me and my friends. We must do more than acknowledge it's fascism.
My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."
