This is such a great thread and point about generative AI.
Writing is profoundly disrespected as a craft, a skill, and an art. So many people assume that both writing and critiquing fiction require basically nothing, that anyone who identifies as “smart” can do it. It’s MADDENING.

The problem with writing is that a) everyone thinks they could definitely write a book if they [just tried/had time/were a dweeb like you, the professional writer] and b) very few people are satisfied merely to write. We want our writing to be read, or the process isn't complete.
